Hotline for exploited Polish workers

Published on 5 June 2009 - 8:56am
More about:

As of Friday, Polish workers in the Netherlands who believe they're being exploited can call a free hotline staffed by native speakers.

The hotline is in addition to a website where Poles can lodge complaints about low wages and inadequate housing. Employers' organisation ABU says about 5,000 crooked temporary job agencies operate in the Netherlands. Recently, inspectors discovered a group of Romanians living in miserable circumstances at an asparagus farm in the province of Noord Brabant.
