More about:

Holland manager Bert van Marwijk picked 23 players on Friday for the upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and Germany.

Dropped from the preliminary 26-strong selection are Ajax midfielder Theo Janssen and Juventus winger Eljero Elia. This week, HSV Hamburg defender Jeffrey Bruma called off with a groin strain.

Not included either are Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay, Valencia defender Hedwiges Maduro, Bayern Munich striker Arjen Robben and PSV left-back Erik Pieters who are all recovering from injuries.

Called up to replace them, among others, are Vurnon Anita and newcomer Derk Boerrigter, both from Ajax. However, Boerrigter left the training camp on Tuesday 8 November with a back complaint. AZ Alkmaar striker Roy Beerens has been selected to replace him.

Holland will take on Switzerland, which failed to qualify for next year's European Championship finals, in the Amsterdam ArenA on 11 November. Four days later, the Dutch will play another Euro 2012 favourite, Germany, in Hamburg's Imtech Arena.

Good to know that the star players are back in form. Hope they have learnt from the last match, and win these two matches. Looking forward to a convincing victory..
