Around 165,000 customers of the failed DSB bank will recover their savings before Christmas.
The Dutch Central Bank will pay everyone who is covered by the Deposit Guarantee Scheme and has registered via a special website. DSB customers who claimed their lost saving through different channels will receive their money at a later date. The compensation scheme involves some 2.5 million euros.
Dirk Scheringa's DSB bank went bankrupt in October. Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin has informed parliament that the Public Prosecutor's Office will not conduct a criminal investigation into the leaking of information on bank's dire situation. He said detectives conducting a preliminary investigation had failed to find any evidence that information had been leaked.
