Haiti is observing a day of national mourning for those who died as a result of the earthquake which hit precisely a month ago.
A remembrance ceremony is being held near the devastated presidential palace in the capital Port-au-Prince. Haitians have been asked to wear black or white as a sign of respect to the deceased.
Huge television screens which will show the ceremony have been set up in the tent camps housing the people who have lost their homes, more than 1.2 million of them. They face difficult times ahead as Haiti's rainy season is about to start.
