The Haitian government has decided to set up a large-scale camp together with aid organisations to provide shelter for at least 100,000 earthquake victims.
The camp, which will be built near the capital Port-au-Prince, is to include medical aid stations and schools. The camp is expected to be only the first of several such camps.
The prices of food and transport have skyrocketed and many desperate Haitians have taken to looting, but the level of violence is still considered relatively low.
Aid organisations are increasingly concerned about hygiene. A large number of bodies still have not been recovered and most people have only limited access to sanitary facilities.
The government says 70,000 bodies have been collected and buried. Officials have expressed fears the final death toll will be between 150,000 and 200,000 people.
