South Asia Wired says goodbye.

Drastic budget cuts at Radio Netherlands Worldwide have meant that our South Asia service is one of the casualties.

South Asia Wired, which started as a blog in 2009 and grew into a website and short weekly audio programme, will stop producing as of 29 June 2012.  Our site: www.southasiawired.org will still be active until November 2012, although no new stories, audio or video will be added.

However, our twitter and Facebook feeds will be updated regularly.

You can also still read our archived stories and listen to our radio shows. For all radio programmes, simply click on the "South Asia Wired" banner on the right of your screen (or click here).

On the homepage of South Asia Wired, we have selected a number of classic stories from our archives that paint a good picture of the topics we have covered over the past two years. These include the aftermath of the Sri Lankan/Tamil war, the plight of the underprivileged in South Asia, the fight for democracy and (press) freedom in the area, and the state of human rights.

In our final programme (originally aired on 29 June 2012) you can hear about the people we have influenced with our stories, and those whose stories have transformed us.

In the next few months, Radio Netherlands Worldwide will be shifting its focus.
