More about:

Germany scored a 3-2 victory against Uruguay in Port Elizabeth in the third place playoff of the FIFA World Cup on Saturday evening.

Thomas Mueller put Germany into the lead in the 19th minute with his fifth goal of the tournament, only for Uruguay’s Edinson Cavani to equalise nine minutes later.

Uruguay then took the lead early in the second half with a brilliant strike by Diego Forlan, but Marcell Jansen put Germany back level within five minutes. With eight minutes to go, Sami Khedira scored the winning goal with a header after a goalmouth scramble following a corner.
