A 36-year-old German man has received a two-year suspended jail sentence for subletting rooms in his apartment to two Dutch brothers who used the premises to grow marijuana plants.
The man said he had nothing to do with the Dutchmen’s drug dealing, but the judge pointed out that the rooms had no independent entrance and could only be accessed through the man’s living room.
The two Dutch brothers, who have already been given three-and-a-half and four year jail sentences, claimed they only supplied growing equipment to the German man. The judge concluded they were only trying to pay their landlord back for giving evidence against them.
The case came to light in March when police investigated a break-in at the apartment.
