Three men have been arrested after raids throughout Germany. The three are suspected of recruiting Muslims to fight abroad. Four other suspects are believed to be outside the country.
The seven suspects include six Germans and an Egyptian. Three hundred police were deployed to raid more than 40 buildings. The suspects are believed to have recruited more than 100 Muslims over a long period.
First they were sent to a Qur'an school in Egypt and then to trainings camps in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The police operation comes on the final day of a trial of Muslim extremists in Düsseldorf, Germany.
In court, the Public Prosecution accused four German and Turkish suspects of wanting to create a bigger bloodbath than the 11 September attacks in 2001 in the United States.
The trial suspects have admitted preparing attacks on US soldiers and diplomats. The verdict is due on 4 March.
