A French aid worker kidnapped in Chad last November has been released.
Laurent Maurice, who worked for the International Red Cross, was in Chad helping to coordinate the harvest when he was overpowered by armed men. They later demanded one million euros in ransom for him. It is not known whether the kidnappers received any money for his release.
Another International Red Cross worker, Gauthier LeFevre, who was kidnapped in the Sudanese region of Darfur last October, is still being held in captivity. Darfur lies on the border between Chad and Sudan.
