Both Israeli and Palestinian sources say that four Palestinians were killed when a group of at least ten Palestinian militants attempted to cross the Gaza Strip border and attack an Israeli patrol near the Karni border crossing.

Some of the militants were on horseback. A spokesperson for the Israeli military says there were no Israeli casualties. It is not clear if the attackers were members of Hamas or another Palestinian group. It is one of the most serious incidents since the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip in January.
