Spanish driver Fernando Alonso has won the first Grand Prix of the new Formula 1 racing season.
Racing in Bahrain for Ferrari, he beat his Brazilian teammate Felipe Massa and Britain's Lewis Hamilton, racing for McLaren, into second and third place respectively. Seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher ended sixth while defending champion, Britain's Jenson Button, came seventh.
The Bahrain Grand Prix also marked the return of Germany to Formula 1 after a three-year absence.
