The Argentinian state has demanded a 25-year prison sentence against former junta leader Reynaldo Bignone.
Bignone and five other former generals are accused of crimes against humanity during the military junta which lasted from 1976 until 1983. The six are accused of torture, the disappearances of opposition members and the abduction of children.
Reynaldo Bignone was Argentinian president from July 1982 until December 1983, the last 18 months of the military regime. He succeeded Leopoldo Galtieri who was forced to resign after Argentina lost the Falklands war against the United Kingdom.
An estimated 30,000 people disappeared during the regime of the Argentinian military junta.
