FC Twente stumble in sight of championship

Published on 14 April 2010 - 11:04am
More about:

FC Twente, who are at the top of the Dutch Premier League and close to becoming national champions for the first time in their history, have suffered a painful defeat with just two matches left to go.

They lost 0-1 to AZ Alkmaar. Although AZ dominated for most of the match it took an own goal from the foot of the unfortunate Twente defender Peter Wisgerhof to put them ahead.

If Ajax defeat Willem II in Tilburg on Wednesday, that will leave only one point between them and FC Twente.

That's the Twente team bus, mind you!

No mention of the attack on the team bus before the game?
