FC Twente leads the Premier League

Published on 12 December 2009 - 11:23pm
More about:

FC Twente is still leading the Premier League after beating NAC Breda 3-1 at home on Saturday. Just before half time, the team from the southern city of Enschede was 1-0 behind following a goal from Edwin de Graaf. But in the second half, Twente went into the lead with two goals from Miroslav Stoch and one from Bryan Ruiz.

In Friesland, Rotterdam's Feyenoord beat SC Heerenveen. The Rotterdammers won 2-0 with goals by Kevin Hofland and Jon Dahl Tomasson in the final 30 minutes of the match. This result means trainer Mario Been's team remains in fourth place in the league. The last time Feyenoord won against Heerenveen in the Premier League was in September 1998.

In other matches, Eindhoven's PSV looked set to draw at home with Alkmaar AZ until Ola Toivonen managed a winning goal in the five minutes before the final whistle. VVV-Venlo won their home game against RKC Waalwijk 3-0. After more than 15 minutes Adil Auassar scored the first goal, followed by Michael Timisela and Ken Leemans. RKC is now at the bottom of the league, while VVV is in ninth position.
