Through the ages, art and fashion have been intertwined. Artists use fashion to give shape to their ideas. And fashion designers work all kinds of art into their designs.
The Hague’s Gemeente Museum is currently holding an exhibition on the cross pollination between art and
fashion under the title Fashion ♥ Art, A passionate affair.
On display are creations by Yves Saint Laurent and Sonia Delaunay, fabric designs by Cobra artist Karel Appel and 'op-art' (optical art) dresses inspired by Mondrian's geometric lines.
The exhibition runs until 8 January 2012.
