FARC “forces abortions” on young recruits

Published on 20 December 2009 - 10:38am
More about:

The Colombian rebel movement, the FARC forces young women in its army who get pregnant to have abortions.

Sara Morales told Colombian radio that there is a camp in the north of the country where young recruits are forced to undergo abortions. The foetuses are dumped in a cave.

FARC commanders believe that babies hamper their struggle.

Sara Morales became involved with the FARC at the age of 11. She has had two children by FARC fighters. After ten years, she managed to escape from the rebels.
