Domestic violence against women in Nicaragua is ingrained into the country's culture. A 1998 survey found that a third of all women living with a partner had suffered physical or sexual abuse in the home. This despite a law reform that establishes restraining orders and the recognition of psychological abuse.
Each morning at a small radio station in the middle of Nicaragua, a 'witch' names and shames local men who’ve abused their wives. Yamileth Chavarría tells host Jonathan Groubert how her show is changing lives.
Yamileth is also the subject of a documentary film Jungle Radio, which was featured in the Movies that Matter festival in The Hague.
