Eurostar says it will pay passengers trapped in the Channel Tunnel in December some 11 million euros in compensation. On Eurostar's website, director Richard Brown apologises to the tens of thousands of people affected by the breakdowns.
Five high-speed trains were trapped in the tunnel between France and Great Britain for several hours due to the severe winter weather. Around two thousand passengers spent 16 hours in the tunnel without food, water or electricity.
