European Commission bans Iran Air

Published on 30 March 2010 - 1:32pm
More about:

The European Commission has imposed a ban on flights by Iran Air within Europe.

The ban, which is effective immediately, comes after a series of inspections, a number of serious incidents and a failure by the Iranian authorities to take action.

Iran Air flies to many European cities, including Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport three times a week.

The European Commission has also banned flights into the European Union by all Sudanese airlines.

Meanwhile, Brussels has lifted a ban on TAAG Angolan Airline flights to European destinations, as the company has implemented enough improvements to get itself off the black list.

This is not %100 right, if you check the source at: http://europa.eu/rapid/pressReleasesAction.do?reference=IP/10/388&format... and http://ec.europa.eu/transport/air-ban/doc/list_en.pdf you will see that 14 of their aircrafts are excepted from the ruling and they are still allowed to fly to europe which means 747 flights to london as well as A3x0 and 737 flight to several destinations in Europe will continue, they only have to re-arrange their fleet and I think with current schedule actually none of the flights will stop!

It is very ironic...they first put sanctions so that Iran Air wouldn't be able to buy new civilian airplanes or spare parts for current ones. This is not about the evil government but about civilians who have to see their death in front of their eyes any time they fly the wired Russian planes....
