      EU to simplify use of mobiles at sea

      New EU legislation is to make it easier use mobile phones on board ships in European waters in the future.

      EU Digital Agenda Commissioner Neelie Kroes has announced that the new legislation will put an end to the patchwork quilt of rules and regulations from the 27 different member states.

      The relaxation of the current legislation will benefit passengers and crews on cruise ships, freight ships and ferries in European waters.
