The junta in Guinea has appointed political veteran Jean-Marie Doré as acting Prime Minister. Mr Doré is the leader of the Union for the Progress of Guinea and the face of the opposition. He will head the transitional government that will run the West African country until elections have been held.
The military rulers and the opposition have agreed that the elections will be held in six months. They have also agreed that junta leader Moussa Dadis Camara will not return to Guinea in the near future. Mr Camara is currently in Burkina Faso where he is recovering from an attack last December when he was shot in the head and the neck.
