An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale has shaken Southern Spain and Portugal and northern Morocco. There are no reports of injuries or damage.
The epicentre lay in the Atlantic Ocean, around 100 kilometres southwest of the Portuguese coastal city of Faro. The quake was felt across Portugal, in the Moroccan cities of Tangiers, Rabat and Casablanca, and the Spanish cities of Seville, Cordoba and Huelva.
