Dutch paedophile hunter sites shut down

Published on 30 June 2009 - 8:59am
More about:

Several websites run  by Dutch paedophile hunter Yvonne van Hertum have been shut down by an internet provider in the United States.

The provider says it did so after receiving a number of threats and suffering massive email attacks. Other sites seem to have experienced similar problems. On her sites, Ms Van Hertum publishes the names, addresses and pictures of people convicted of child abuse in the Netherlands. Recently she has begun adding pictures of people merely suspected of child abuse. The activist, who is a writer by profession, was recently sentenced to two months in prison after being found guilty of libel. In a reaction, Ms Van Hertum has announced she will look for another provider for her websites.
