This week’s on RNW's Dutch Music Monday Top 10 (week beginning 7 May 2012): 

Bagagedrager, by rappers Gers Pardoel and Sef, spends its 8th week on top of our Music Monday Top 10, while Pardoel’s earlier number one, Ik neem je mee, remains locked at number 3, now in its 31st chart week. None of the other songs on our chart really seem to be able to break into the top three, which just shows how extremely long lasting the popularity of Bagagedrager, Epic and Ik neem je mee actually is.

Two songs disappeared this week: Nobody’s guy by Charly Luske (after 2 weeks) and Happiness by Trijntje Oosterhuis (3 weeks).

5. Kom maar op – Jeroen van der Boom
Jeroen van der Boom showed a lot of perseverance in the earlier stages of his career: he tried to make it as a rock singer, as a Sinatra-type lounge performer and as a voice impressionist. Nothing really worked until he recorded his first Dutch-language song in 2006, Jij bent zo, which became an instant hit. Since then, Jeroen has seen many successes and has become a popular TV and quiz show host. Kom maar op is Jeroen’s latest single.

10. The Mushroom Cloud – The Kyteman Orchestra
Kyteman is the pseudonym of multi-talented performer Colin Benders. The 25-year-old mixes pop, hip hop, rap, jazz and world music in his Kyteman Orchestra and stunned the Dutch music scene in 2009 with its debut The Hermit Sessions. Colin assembled a new troupe of session musicians, rappers, vocalists and an operatic choir for his latest album, simply called The Kyteman Orchestra, which immediately went to number one in the Dutch charts when it came out a month ago.
