Dutch minister plans higher education changes

Published on 31 August 2009 - 9:36pm
More about:

Dutch Minister of Education Ronald Plasterk is looking into changes to higher education to remove the difference between Higher Vocational Education and university degrees.

The minister believes that it is old fashioned to differentiate between people who follow an academic degree and those who choose vocational courses.

He wants to change the way higher education is organised to make it easier for students to pass from one type of course to another and to follow tailor-made courses.

Higher education organisations are positive about the development. The minister wants a report on the topic to be completed within one-and-a-half years.
