Dutch marines killed in Uruzgan

Two Dutch marines have been killed in Uruzgan province in Afghanistan.

Peter van Uhm, the Commander of the Dutch armed forces in the country announced that the two members of the United Nations' International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed by a roadside bomb while taking part in an operation codenamed Kharok Mahy.

The two men were Marine Corporal Jeroen Houweling (29) and Marine Marc Harders (23). A 21-year-old marine, who has not been named, was injured in the same explosion.

Commander Van Uhm said that, "The death of these two soldiers reminds us, in a tragic fashion, that the work in Uruzgan and in Afghanistan is by no means complete.
