A 37-year old Dutchman was arrested upon arrival at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport this week on charges of drug smuggling and money laundering.
A search of the man’s house later that day revealed that he also owned large collections of designer shoes and expensive suits although, according to his tax records, he had not received any income for the past five years.
“It's not unusual for suspects to swallow 112 cocaine capsules,” a spokesperson for the Schiphol airport police told Radio Netherlands Worldwide, “most swallow 60 to 70 capsules but there are some upward peaks. What is interesting about this case is the amount of luxury goods the man owned. Most smugglers don’t own that many lavish items."
