Dutch broadcasters to raise money for Haiti

Published on 17 January 2010 - 10:41pm
More about:

On Thursday, various Dutch public service and commercial radio and television stations will be broadcasting special programmes to raise money for the victims of Haiti's earthquake.

The first Dutch survivors of Tuesday's devastating earthquake were flown back to the Netherlands and Belgium on Sunday. The number of Dutch citizens missing in Haiti has risen to 22.

A number of Haitian children being adopted by Dutch people were also on the flights. Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin has arranged for the children to be brought to the Netherlands quicker than would normally be the case. About a further 100 children will be flown in from Haiti on Monday.
