The Dutch abortion ship run by Women on the Waves will temporarily halt its operations.

The group fears a legal change introduced by the government of Christian Democrat Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende means its service is now punishable by law. Under the new Dutch legislation, abortion pills such as the ones the ship provides in countries with limited or no abortion policies, may from now on only be offered in specialised clinics, also in cases of late pregnancies.
