Dubai opens world's tallest tower

Published on 4 January 2010 - 9:39pm
More about:

Dubai has opened the world's tallest structure. The Burj Khalifa, named after the president of the United Arab Emirates, soars 828 metres into the sky and has 169 floors.

Setting new records, the so-called superscraper has a praying space on the 158th floor and a swimming pool on the 76th. Some 12,000 people can live in the tower, which counts over 1,000 apartments. Each apartment costs up to three million euros. Experts say the sale of the apartments has not been affected by Dubai's economic crisis or the collapse of the housing market in late 2008.
