A synagogue in Dresden in Germany has been desecrated with graffiti, including Nazi swastikas, on the eve of the anniversary of 'Kristallnacht'. It is not known who was behind the incident.
In 1938, thousands of Jewish businesses were vandalised on 9 November, or 'Kristalnacht', which took its name from the broken glass of smashed shop windows which littered the streets afterwards. It signalled the beginning of the systematic persecution of Jews in Germany under the Nazi regime.
