Dozens die in Bangladesh ferry tragedy

Published on 28 November 2009 - 12:04pm
More about:

At least 30 people were drowned in Bangladesh after a ferry jammed with over 1,000 passengers capsized.

Dozens of people are missing and feared dead. The ferry, one of the country's largest inland vessels, had already docked in the southern city of Bhola when it started taking on water and partially sank. Among the passengers were many women and children going home to celebrate the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday or Festival of Sacrifice.
