At least 50 people have been killed in Afghanistan over the last few days. Fourteen of them, including three children, died in an attack in Uruzgan province's Chora district on Friday, when a van hit a roadside bomb.
An earlier attack occurred in Kandahar, where suicide bombers on motorbikes blew themselves up outside the headquarters of the security services.
Afghanistan is waiting for the final results of the presidential election held on 20 August. The latest figures give President Hamid Karzai 54 percent of the vote, with his nearest rival Abdullah Abdullah on 28 percent.
If a candidate wins over 50 percent of the vote, no second round run-off is necessary. However, with the many allegations of fraud to be investigated, it is unlikely that a winner will be declared soon.
