The International Skating Union has announced that German skater Claudia Pechstein has been suspended for two years after testing positive for blood doping.
The suspension means that Pechstein will miss next year's Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The 37-year-old skater tested positive in February during a World Championship meeting in Norway, where she dropped out of the competition after one day.
The German skating star and five-time Olympic champion has lodged an appeal against the decision.
