The Argentinian tennis player Juan Martin del Potro has won the US Open. He came to the final seeded number six, but beat Roger Federer who had won the New York title for the last five years.
It was a spectacular and lengthy final with chances on both sides. Del Potro eventually won in five sets (3-6, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2). The Argentinian is nearly 21 and this is his first grand slam win. Earlier this year, he made it to the semi-finals of the Roland Garros tournament in Paris.
