Crown Prince building two houses in Machangulo

Published on 9 October 2009 - 3:49pm
More about:

Crown Prince Willem-Alexander is said to be building two houses on Mozambique's Machangulo peninsula. Weekly Elzevier says one is for the prince and his family, the other for security staff.

In the face of the political and social upheaval triggered by the project, the prince is allegedly trying to sell the second lot, without informing Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende, who is formally responsible for the Royal Family's finances. The scandal broke at the end of September when a member of the board of the real estate developer told Radio Netherlands Worldwide that the prince had bought two parcels. He later retracted his statement. The Government Information Service also denied a second house was being built for the prince on Machangulo.

Disregarding this is a gossip, why isn't there a statement of the prince or the officials? I think it would had been interesting to find out why he needs to build two houses, one for the family and one for the security staff. I hope they'll use Maytag parts to get the deliveries to Mozambique faster.
