Iran's highest legislative body, the Guardian Council, says there was no fraud in the June 12 presidential election.
"After ten days of examination, we did not see any major irregularities, aside from the small irregularities encountered in all elections," says a council spokesperson.
It is the Guardians Council's duty to determine the validity of the results. The election was won by current conservative president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi is convinced the win was fraudulent. He says he will not reconcile himself to the council's decision as, in his opinion, it is biased in favour of President Ahmadinejad. Dozens of people have died in protests against the election results.
