There are over 50 of them: large, colourful globes painted by artists from all over the world. Together they present hot ideas for a cooler planet. From June to September the public art exhibition Cool Globes is on show in the Amsterdam Westerpark.
At the open air exhibition visitors can find big and small, idealistic and practical solutions to climate change. The globes give the message that you can do all sorts of things yourself to make the planet a cleaner and better place.
Greener
For example, you can make your house and office greener, recycle materials, go walking, cycling or rollerskating. And if you want to continue driving a car, you can also use a hybrid car and stop for LED traffic lights.
Cool Globes grew out of a commitment at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2005. The very first Cool Globes took place in Chicago in 2007. Since then the exhibition has toured the US. The globes have also been on display in Copenhagen, Geneva and Marseille.
After the exhibition in Amsterdam, the globes will be sold in an auction.
