Spain's Alberto Contador has won the Tour de France for the second time in his career. Alberto Contador finished the gruelling three-week bicycle race in 85 hours 48 minutes and 35 seconds and claimed the yellow jersey.
The winner of the final stage - over 164 kilometres from Montereau Fault-Yonne to Paris - was Britain's Mark Cavendish. The British rider won six stages. Seven-time winner Lance Armstrong finished third overall and five minutes and 24 seconds behind Contador.
The polka dot jersey for the King of the Mountains went to Italy's Franco Pellizotti, the green jersey - awarded for points - went to Norway's Thor Hushovd. The white jersey for the best rider under 25 went to Luxembourg's Andy Schleck, who also came second overall. The best team was Astana.
