The European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid says Guinea's coup leader, Captain Moussa Dadis Camara, should stand trial for the killing of opposition protesters last month.
It is reported that forces loyal to the coup regime opened fire on the demonstrators on 28 September, killing more than 150 people and injuring over 1000. Commissioner Karel de Gucht describes it as a crime against humanity and argues that those responsible must not be allowed to escape justice. Captain Camara denies responsibility for the actions of the troops.
