A further nine people have died of cold in Poland, adding to the 221 people who have died of hypothermia in Poland over the past three months.
The authorities are calling on the public to help the needy and not look the other way. Many of the dead were homeless.
Poland has been has been in the grips of freezing winter weather for weeks. Particularly in the centre and east of the country, temperatures have fallen as low as minus 24 degrees Celsius.
