Closing Olympic ceremony in Vancouver

In Canada the Olympic Winter Games have closed with a spectacular  ceremony, including a procession of flag-bearing athletes and various speeches and national anthems.

The Mayor of Vancouver passed the Olympic Flag on to his colleague from Sochi in Russia, where the 2014 Winter Games will be held. The ceremony included a performance by Canadian superstar Neil Young.

Various speeches mentioned the tragic accident of Vancouver 2010 causing the death of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili.

Jacques Rogge, president of the International Olympic Committee, referred to Vancouver 2010 as "excellent and very friendly games”.
