Ciolek wins second stage Tour of Spain

Published on 30 August 2009 - 7:49pm
More about:

The German cyclist Gerald Ciolek has won the second stage of the Tour of Spain, which ran between the Dutch towns of Assen and Emmen.

In the mass sprint he beat Italy’s Fabio Sabatini into second place. Switzerland’s Fabian Cancellara remains the overall tour leader.

On Monday, still in the Netherlands, the third stage will travel from the town of Zutphen to the town of Venlo. The tour will leave the Netherlands on Tuesday, when it travels from Venlo to the city of Liège in Belgium. After a day’s rest, the competitors will then fly to Spain to continue the race.
