The Chinese government emphatically denies being involved in cyber attacks on dissidents. Beijing says such allegations are unfounded and only intended to "denigrate China".
The Google internet company recently said that dissident Chinese internet users regularly face cyber attacks. The company said it would no longer abide by China's internet censorship rules and threatened to end its operations in the country. US President Barack Obama expressed concern regarding the issue.
The Chinese English-language newspaper The Global Times accuses the United States of applying double standards. The paper writes that the US employs tens of thousands of internet experts who engage in hacking for political reasons. In this way, the US allegedly tries to foment unrest in a number of countries including Iran.
