China is one of the countries to have been hit by flooding following heavy monsoon rains.
More than 150,000 people have either fled their homes or been evacuated, and initial reports number 13 people dead and eight missing. Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao has ordered local authorities to guarantee the safety of the population and to repair damaged dykes.
The heavy rainfall has also caused landslides and many houses have collapsed, especially in the Guangxi region. In 1998, over 3600 people died in the worst flooding in Guangxi's history. So far this year, 95 people have been killed as a result of the floods. Experts say the bad weather is set to continue into Sunday.
Northeastern India has also been hit by monsoon rainfall. Only last week, the region was still being affected by a heatwave, as a result of which at least 100 people died.
