Child killer jailed for 20 years

Published on 4 December 2009 - 2:59pm
More about:

A man who cut the throat of a 12-year old girl has been sentenced to 20 years in jail.

The 49-year-old convict is the ex-partner of the girl's mother. He killed the girl, Robiënna, in the home of her mother, who later declared that the killing was intentional. The man has consistently denied this, saying the girl's death was an accident.

The Amsterdam court judged that murder was proven beyond all reasonable doubt. It rejected the prosecutor's demand for a 25-year sentence, reducing it to 20 because an attempt to kill the girl's mother, of which the man had also been accused, could not be proven.

The majority of the people would like to have the penalty for murderers but under EU law, it is impossible.

Sandrav, you are right but why does the EU want to protect murderers from being executed? What are the reasons? Why does the EU prtotect murderers but does nothing to protect babies from being killed, via, legalised abortions? Why is a murderer's life more important than someone like a baby? If it is okay to leagalise the mass killings of babies, one would think it was okay to execute a murderer.

"Child killer jailed for 20 years".....Boy, I would hate to be a criminal in the Netherlands! You guys have something to be very proud of in the Netherlands. I guess this sentence of 20 years makes sense when one takes a more objective analysis of the Dutch society. You see nothing wrong with killing babies via abortions or euthanising a person because they are severely depressed. Do you really believe this murderer will serve 20 years in prison? No, in a couple of years, one of your judges is going to give him some vacation time and he will not return. You know, sort of like the pimp who likes to beat-up on women. Or, some judge is going to feel sorry for the ex-con and let him out of prison in about seven years. {Isn't it amazing how the legal system feels compassion for the murderer but not the victims, their families, or the potential victims once. { At the moment murderer cut the throat of the young girl, he gave-up his right to continue living. {He is going to get to enjoy his life but the girl will not. Is the death penality cruel and unusual punishment for a person who has murdered a person in cold blood? If he had a right to murder, doesn't the state have a right to execute him?
