A car bomb has exploded at a busy market in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk. At least 25 people have been killed and dozens injured.
The attack comes on the day that US troops withdrew from Iraqi cities and transferred security control to the Iraqi authorities. More than 130,000 US troops have withdrawn to their barracks in Iraq. A small number have remained in the cities to assist Iraqi soldiers.
The US mission in Iraq is due to end in 2012. The Iraqi authorities have declared 30 June National Sovereignty day.
