Canadian health officials have announced the first case of turkeys catching the (A)H1N1 flu virus. The outbreak on a farm in Ontario province is the second case in the world, after Chile reported a case in August.
Health authorities say the flock in Ontario had been quarantined and that none of the birds or their eggs had entered the food chain. They encouraged Canadians not to panic and warned of a minimal risk to human health as the virus mutates from humans to animals.
