B'Tselem:almost 8,900 killed in conflict

Published on 22 November 2009 - 12:16pm
Filed under:

An Israeli human rights organisation says the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has left almost 8,900 people dead over the last 20 years.

B'Tselem says 7,398 of the victims, including 1,537 minors, were Palestinian. The human rights group says 1,483 Israelis, 139 of them minors, died during the same period. Of these, 488 were members of the security forces and 995 were civilians.

2009 was by far the bloodiest year for the Palestinians; 1033 were killed, including 355 minors. Most of them died during Israel's assault on the Gaza Strip in January. 2002, during the second intifada, was the deadliest year for Israel. B'Tselem says 420 Israelis, 151 of them soldiers, were killed in that year.

The report was published to coincide with B'Tselem's 20th anniversary.

RNW, loves reporting against Israel, and love to forgive Hamas for their inciting rockets. A dead Israeli. is nothing to them but a dead Palestinian is a story for them, it's another matter that Palestinians are the inciters or Hamas uses them as human shields.RNW are the spokesperson for the Hamas and Palestinian civilians, so their reports are always against Israel. Perhaps, there are more muslims working in the whole of RNW....

I like this so called news article. The first paragraph "B'Tselem says 7,398 of the victims, including 1,537 minors, were Palestinian" were victims" whereas, the group stated "1,483 Israelis, 139 of them minors, died during the same period. Of these, 488 were members of the security forces and 995 were civilians." { First, this report is just a bit biased. It does not say how many of the Palestinian deaths were part of the PLO and Hamas's securty forces. It also classified the death of the Palestinians as victims but didn't do likewise with the Israelis. Is this news or is it propaganda to further the cause of Islam in it's intifada to destroy Israel? { The second paragraph stated "2009 was by far the bloodiest year for the Palestinians; 1033 were killed, including 355 minors. Most of them died during Israel's assault on the Gaza Strip in January." This one paragraph might have been less biased if it had stated the assualt by Israel was initiated to stop the thousand of Kassam rocket attacks by Hamas and therefore innocent human lives were destroyed. {RNW if you must distort the truth by posting hogwash, please quote your sources. Don't just say " B'Tselem says". Persuade by reporting the accurate facts. As you surely know Who, what, when, where, and maybe why. In this report you clearly showed who you thought the victims were, right? The Palestianians, right? But, you failed to show why the Palestinians were victims during this period. They were victims because they couldn't stop pulling the trigger on innocent citizens in Israel.
